About
Welcome to History Compass Exchanges, aiming to offer a lively and informative virtual venue for historians!
This is the companion community site to Wiley-Blackwell’s online review journal, History Compass. Laura Mitchell (University of California, Irvine) is Chief Editor for History Compass Exchanges and a team of invited News Editors contribute the many posts on a variety of subjects.
Just as History Compass articles survey recent trends in criticism and research, this community site offers a complementary forum for debate and information sharing across the discipline.
History Compass Exchanges focuses on:
- History and Current Events, e.g. the role of history in public discourse and mainstream media
- Discipline-specific news, e.g. changes in teaching curricula, textbook controversies, new sources of funding, job search issues, upcoming conferences, post-conference reports
- Digital History, e.g. reviews of new online collections, declassified documents, databases, archives
- Recent Publications – perspectives on new book or article and what they offer for the field
- Issues raised by History Compass articles, exploring and debating ideas further
- Upcoming academic events / conferences / research projects / Calls for Papers
We have a regular team of News Editors but we are also open to having guest contributors – so do feel free to drop us an email with a proposal if you think you’d like to write a post.
We are open to any and all ideas which would provide insight into what is going on right now in both research and teaching.
And finally, we hope you enjoy reading History Compass Exchanges as it develops over the coming time!
Best,
Laura Mitchell (University of California, Irvine)
